4. The Inside Scoop
“The Ivy League of the South” Fuqua offers a top-ranked, well-rounded program balanced between teamwork and leadership. With the top-ranked Health Management program, and a diverse pool of students, Fuqua offers a collegial and collaborative atmosphere for its students. Fuqua’s global ambitions are leading it to establish a “Global Campus” and plans are underway to build campuses in China, the UK, India, Russia, and the UAE.
- Fuqua Unique Features
- Diversity – Unlike its partner schools in the northeast, it’s not solely focused on Finance or Consulting, but its graduates go on to a plethora of industries in various functions. Healthcare, for example, and high tech due to its access to the famed “Research Triangle.” Fuqua is also well-known for having more minorities as a portion of its student-body than other schools.
- Fuqua Global Campus – In September 2008, Fuqua launched an expansion initiative to establish campuses in St. Petersburg, Russia; Dubai, UAE; Kunshan, China; New Delhi, India; and London, UK.
- Health Sector Management (HSM) – The HSM is a full-time, two-year residency program that immerses students in health care issues. This is one of the largest and most prestigious programs of its kind.
- Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE) – In this International program, you can study a country of your choice in breadth and depth before taking a trip yourself to get to know it firsthand.
- Basketball!!!!! – Duke. The Blue Devils. A unique opportunity to watch one of the best NCAA teams play some “real basketball.” And while you’re down there, give our regards to Coach K.
- Center for Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) – This is a research center whose mission is to promote the entrepreneurial pursuit of social impact through business expertise.
- “Fuqua Fridays” – Fuqua Fridays are very informal student/faculty/staff get-togethers where people can spend some quality together (and eat some free food!). This goes down, and is very popular with the students, every Friday at 5 pm in the student center.
- “Fuqua Wednesdays” – Actually there’s no such thing as “Fuqua Wednesdays”. And that’s because Wednesdays there are no classes. ☺ A nice break in the middle of a long week always helps relax.
- Precision Essay Tips for Fuqua
- Be Global – Fuqua has been spending a LOT of energy and money to give a big push to create the “world’s first global campus.” Show how you can help with this increasingly international effort.
- “Team Fuqua” – Collaborative Leadership. This is the KEY to Fuqua. Being a leader doesn’t count for much if it’s not integrated with teamwork. Individualists need not apply. Every single project, literally, will be done on a team at Fuqua…
- Why Duke – This question is important for almost all schools, but here doubly so. Those who doubt should just look at the TWO questions dedicated to Duke in the application. So do yourself a favor – a wee bit of research can go a long way.
