4. The Inside Scoop

Earning “el MBA”
IESE offers a world-class program in two Campuses in Spain’s two largest and most business-friendly cities – Madrid and Barcelona. Needless to say, this is a great program—if not the best—for those looking to work in Europe or Latin America.
  • IESE Unique Features
  • 100% No-cosigner Loan – IESE offers full loans to all International Students, so once you get in, you’re all good. (Although, of course, you will need to repay the bank at some point…)
  • Great Hiring Statistics – With 94% of its graduates being places within six months of graduating, IESE has one of the best placement statistics of any MBA program, worldwide.
  • Well-connected – IESE offers alliances with semester-abroad opportunities at 23 schools, from Kellogg to HEC, from Wharton to CEIBS, giving you the chance to make your international MBA…well, even more international.
  • Little Known (Fun) Fact – IESE is an initiative of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. As such, ethics are a part of the school’s makeup.
  • History – The school is Europe’s first ever two-year MBA program and was established with the support of Harvard Business School, whose case-study method is used by IESE today.
  • Two Campuses – Beach or Business? The Prada or Sagrada Familia? Catalan or Castilla? With campuses in both Barcelona and Madrid, there’s something for everyone. The Full-time MBA program is in Barcelona only, but those EMBA candidates can choose between the two options.
  • Bilingual Degree – All students follow the first-year curriculum in English, while simultaneously participating in the Business Spanish Program. If you reach an adequate level of Spanish proficiency you will qualify for the MBA Bilingual Degree.
  • The Latin Connection – Drawing upon its natural connections of language and culture, IESE has good connections with Latin America. Yearly about 15% of IESE students hail from Latin America, and post MBA 10% of that group will return. IESE is also heavily involved in the development of educational programs in Latin America.

  • Precision Essay Tips for IESE
  • Find Something Different – Besides being a well-rounded (and obviously Global) candidate, show something about yourself that is more than just “a businessperson.” What instruments can you play? Were you ever a pro sports player? Are you impassioned for the art of Goya?
  • Visit – If you haven’t been to visit the campus yet…you should CONSIDER it. You need a good reason to go to school in Spain (and not the US, England, France, or even China). And if you haven’t even been to visit the school, that is a tough sell indeed…
