4. The Inside Scoop

LBS: “Limey, [the] Best School?” Consistently ranked in the top 10 International schools, LBS is part of an Elite and growing group of non-US MBA programs. It is often ranked as “the best business school in the world,” topping even HBS and Stanford. With its location in the heart of the World’s (other) Finance Center, the program is particularly well-suited to those who wish to pursue careers in finance or consulting. LBS’s program, with students from 59 nationalities, is global in way that only a non-US school can be.
  • LBS Unique Features
  • Flexible Length – In order to accommodate the differing needs of its students, LBS offers three separate exit points, allowing candidates to complete the course in 15, 18 or 21 months.
  • Global Leadership Summit – LBS’ key conference event on leadership and business with global and business leaders is in a class by itself.
  • The 2012 Summer Olympic Games – The triathlon! Wrestling! Archery! And everyone’s favorite – the shot put! Come a few months early to experience the 2012 Olympic games.
  • GLAM – No it’s not about sparkly shirts and David Bowie songs. It’s about a leadership assessment. Glam is short for Global Leadership Assessment for Managers, a unique LBS program to help you assess your strengths and weaknesses as a leader. LBS takes leadership seriously, more so than many schools even in the US.
  • The Shadowing Project – Ever wanted to see what Steve Jobs does in his quiet moments? Curious if Steve Ballmer is as energetic as he always is in those youtube videos? Want to learn the secrets of leadership from successful managers? Then, take part in LBS’s unique Shadowing Project in which you “shadow” a high-ranking manager for one week, as you follow them around their job. This is the only program of its kind.
  • Private Equity and Venture Club – This is the largest club on campus, with some 300 members, and a great place to rub elbows and hear speakers from those with a wee bit more experience than yourself.
  • The City – Global Finance Center, Big Ben, (Parliament!), the theater district, proximity to Europe (think lowcost airfares – 10 Euros to Paris), connections to global companies, world-class museums and galleries… London offers everything you can want from a global metropolis.
  • Finance and consulting focus – More than two thirds of LBS’s students go on to Consulting and Finance jobs, and these are the schools primary strengths.

  • Precision Essay Tips for LBS
  • Fit Globally – Real global work experience will take you a long way, especially if you have worked in more than one country abroad, and especially if you have global leadership experience. When you look at LBS, the L stands for leadership. The BS stands for, well, we leave that up to your imagination.
  • Show real and deep work experience – Unlike some of its concurrent across the pond, LBS doesn’t seem to be to keen on students with too little experience. As such the classes tend to be made up of older, more experienced students than those in American programs.
